The consortium is composed of a team of highly qualified experts whose talents combine to form the critical mass needed to address the main topic to achieve maximum exploitation of project deliverables: research, development, and dissemination. The multidisciplinary and complementary character of the consortium is reflected by its individual partners: modeling, applied plant sciences, and Earth sciences, and reflects also in the available infrastructure. The consortium of TIMMAR is also intersectorial, including partners from academia and industry, and has the support of a government agency. All partners are part of the larger National consortium for the Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements, a group of institutions who has run several partnership projects. The have published together the results of past projects in top level journals and books (Springer, Willey, Elsevier). From a human resource point of view, former MSc and PhD students of the University of Bucharest are currently employed at Prospectiuni S.A., and the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of S.C. Prospectiuni S.A is currently performing a PhD theses in geology at the University of Bucharest (in a totally different topic than that of this project and not being directly involved in the project). This underlines the excellent complemetarities and synergies between the partners and the will from all sides to transfer the knowledge between academic and business realms.

3.5.1 Consortium size correlation with the complexity of the project outcomes

Although at a fast glance it may appear that the structure of the consortium is simple, actually the two large partners University of Bucharest and Prospectiuni S.A. participate with many relatively autonomous research centers and departements: UB with 4 research centers from 3 faculties, and Prospectiuni SA with 3 departments. The Institute of Biology is present with only one research center, Terrestrial Ecology and Nature Conservation. Actually the consortium has a hierarchical structure with 8 functional research units grouped in three entities with legal personality.
