The distribution of man-power types by work-packages and research centres/ partners is presented in table 2. The effort was calculated in an analytical manner for each activity presented in the Gant-Pert diagram. Research positions include postdocs, PhD students and MSc students as described in chapter 4.4

Senior Researcher Panaiotu Cristian (Lythos research center) was born on 6th May 1957. He studied physics with specialization in Atmospheric and Earth Physics and currently is employed as associated professor at University of Bucharest. He obtained his PhD in 1999, the subject of his doctoral thesis was in the field of paleomagnetism applied to problems of geodynamics. His doctoral studies having ISECD Level 6 and were performed after a master studies finished with ISECD Level 5, performed between 1977 and 1981. Currently he has a great experience using and developing different PC programs. He received in 1976 the third prize in Budapest, Hungary, for physics olympiad and the Romanian Academy Award in 1992 for Earth Physics. He published about 33 ISI article , their Hirsch index and the total number of citations, according to Web of Science is H13 and 540 citation in total.

Senior Researcher Denisa Jianu (Lythos research center) studied at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, graduating in 1993 with a Geology Engineer Diploma. She was the director of the CNCSU research project Economical importance and ecological impact of mining waste deposits in Romania (2006-2009) and the geology responsible in the PN2 project entitled: Phytoremediation methods and risk evaluation in metals polluted areas (2007-2010). Senior Researcher Lucian Petrescu (Lythos research center) is Associate Professor of Geochemistry at the University of Bucharest, Department of Mineralogy. His present research topics are Environmental Geochemistry, Petroleum Geochemistry and Economic Geology.

Senior Researcher Virgil Iordache was born on March 10, 1969 and since December 1993 he is employed at the University of Bucharest holding teaching and research positions. Currently lecturer at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Bucharest and senior research in the Research Center for Ecological Services (CESEC). He also managed / manages for University of Bucharest ten research projects of which: Decision support system for areas heavily polluted with metals (DEMOS), Marie-Curie European reintegration grant (of a former fellow at the University of Jena), EC-DGXII, FP 6; Mathematical modeling of the role of dissolved organic carbon for the export by percolation from contaminated areas (CNCSIS); Consolidating the infrastructure for the biogeochemistry of heavy metals - INFRABIM (ANCS Capacities); Heavy metal balance for Romanian agroecosystems (CNMP); Accounting for the service providing units of plants in the environmental assessment of plans and projects with biogeochemical impact at multiple scales in Rivers basins (ASPABIR), contract nr. 50-2012- PNII. Grants for teaching and research visit to Germany - DAAD 2007 Romanian Academy Award for a book in 2011. He reviewed articles for ISI journals: Archiv fur Hydrobiologie, Chemie der Erde, Applied Mathematical Modeling, geochemical Explorations projects and programs and ERA-NET PNCDI2 Snowman.

Senior Researcher Daniel Scrădeanu (Hydrogeology research center) is Professor at the University of Bucharest, Department of Engineering Geology (born in 1953). He is the head of the Doctoral School of Geology at the University of Bucharest and he has a broad experience in project management in fields like GIS – tool for geological process modeling, stochastic modeling of reservoir rocks parameters, and informatics system for selection, validation and storage of geological information.


Senior Researcher Farcasanu Ileana Cornelia (b. 25. 07. 1960, 52 yrs.): Associate professor at University of Bucharest (Faculty of Chemistry), and director of the Research Center for Applied Organic Chemistry (RCAOC). Specialized in molecular biology in Japan (Hiroshima Univ. and Nara Inst. of Technology - NAIST) and in United Kingdom (Glasgow Univ.) focusing on studies concerning molecular responses to various conditions in yeast and plants. With extensive expertise in molecular biology and genetics, covering various fields (response pathways to stress conditions, screening of chemicals with therapeutic potential, heavy metal homeostasis, bioremediation) the project director has recently established a group involved in chemo-genomic screenings. Principal investigator in three national funded research grants and partner manager of a joint post-doctoral program funded by the EU. Hirsch Index 9, total number of citations: 300 (as of Google Scholar)

Senior Researcher Paucă Comănescu Mihaela, born in 13 August 1943, CSI, 47 years of experience in plant ecology, head of Ecology, Taxonomy and Nature Conservation Centre (2005-2009). Experience: primary production of mountainous meadows and forests ecosystems, plant populations and the main environmental factors dynamics from those ecosystems; ecosystem productivity, mainly of primary productivity, but also of secondary productivity and energetic value pf primary producers; studies on primary productivity using direct methods, sampling, and also ecophysiological and biochemical methods (clorophyllian pigments, osmotic pressure, biomass caloric values); interrelations of different components of the biodiversity (flora, soil fauna, macro fauna) and of the biological production rapports especially primary production, in scrubland, wetlands and common reed ecosystems aiming biometry and ecophysiology (photosynthesis, respiration); ecological restoration; biodiversity of some anthropogenic impacted fields and practical and economical solutions for their remediation, especially of those situated along rivers, also degraded fields die to mining deposition (quarries, ponds from Fundu Moldovei); extreme habitats – vertical cliffs from hilly area, where, besides plant and animal biodiversity the researches have been focused also quantitative methods regarding the capacity of the installation, the maintenance and the rate of extinction of the plants. Activated as associate professor, in the field of phytosociology, at the Faculty of Biology, Bucharest University (1988), population ecology at Faculty of Biology, Babeş Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (1999). Published 19 ISI articles as coordinator and co-author, 129 publications representing original researches in Romanian or international journals, of which 78 are first author, first author of 2 patents. Coordinated: 3 international and 32 national projects, 21 impact assessment studies, 9 studies regarding conservative importance of some areas. I participated as expert botanist in 11 international projects and scientific conventions and 25 national projects, 15 POS-Environment projects; consultant in 4 national projects.


3.4.1 Partners team structure correlations with the technical and scientific objectives

The WPs responsibilities (table 1 above) are allocated to key persons with strong background in the field of that WP and belonging to institutions with significant result and tradition in those areas. Also at each activity level the responsible institution (Gant-Pert diagram, chapter 4.2) is selected based on competence and already proved capability. The detailed structure of the teams and a description of the activities of each person  are presented in chapter 4.4.


3.4.2 Role of company in the project

The company in the project has a very active role, being responsible for two WPs and having allocated important field and and lab activities.
